New Pick Up Site This Year:
Since Christ Church is under renovation we are moving to a nearby members backyard through September 2016. The site is 522 6th Street SE and their backyard is in the same alley as the Christ Church parking lot.
Pick up times are Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm on the Hill and 5:30 to 7 pm on the farm. It is possible to leave shares out at both locations for late comers. If you are going to be late, please call or text Scott at 301-237-7538.
What Will Subscribers Receive?
The size of the shares varies from week to week, being abundant some weeks and smaller others. The spring shares include strawberries, lettuce, peas, greens, radishes, onions, kale and other early crops. Beginning in July, the shares will consist of summer produce such as squash, tomatoes, beans, peppers, corn and melons. Fall shares are similar to those in the spring but are usually larger.
Some weeks, we include vegetables from other family farms in the CSA shares. This allows us to offer more variety and to support other local family farms. For the most part the produce from other farms is not raised organically however it is all from local, family operations. Our weekly emails will explain which vegetables are coming from our farm and which come from from neighboring farms.
Flower Share Option
With a flower subscription, you will receive a fresh bouquet of flowers at the start of each week. The season will run for 12 weeks. Your bouquets will vary each week depending on what we are harvesting. We grow many types of flowers including lots of cornflower, zinnias, sunflowers, butterfly bush and celosia.
The price of the flower share is $140 dollars. Pick up sites are the same as for the vegetable CSA.
